Disclosure: this article is published by the team that builds Tote. Tote is included as one option alongside other tools. Every other app and platform mentioned is a third party we have no affiliation with.

You saved a restaurant recommendation on Instagram three weeks ago. A recipe on TikTok last month. A product thread on Reddit. A travel article in Safari. Now you need one and you cannot find saved posts because you cannot remember which app has them. The average person uses [6.7 different social media platforms](https://backlinko.com/social-media-users) each month, and every one stores saves in its own tab with its own rules and its own limitations. None of them can search each other.

Tools like [Tote](https://totefyi.onelink.me/m0Sp?pid=web&af_sub1=blog_inline_find_saved_posts_across_apps_iphone&af_sub2=article_inline&af_sub3=home&deep_link_sub1=website&deep_link_sub2=home&deep_link_sub3=blog_inline_find_saved_posts_across_apps_iphone&deep_link_sub4=article_inline&deep_link_sub6=web) solve this by collecting saves from any app through the iPhone share sheet into one searchable library. This guide covers where saved posts actually live on every major platform, what each app can and cannot search, and how to find saves by what they contain instead of remembering which app you were using.

## Where each app stores your saves on iPhone

Every platform calls its save feature something different, puts it behind a different menu, and gives you different tools — or no tools — to find things later.

### Instagram

Go to your profile, tap the three-line menu in the top right, then tap **Saved**. All bookmarked posts, Reels, and carousels appear in one grid with no search bar. You can create Collections and sort saves manually, but Instagram does not auto-categorize anything. Instagram has reported that [57 percent of viewers regularly save content](https://about.instagram.com/blog/announcements/new-ways-to-create-and-share-on-instagram) they later struggle to find. If the creator deletes the post or goes private, your bookmark disappears with no notification. [Finding a specific saved Reel](https://tote.fyi/blog/find-saved-reels-iphone) means scrolling through every bookmark you have ever made.

### TikTok

Tap your profile, then the **Favorites** tab (bookmark icon). TikTok has no search within favorites. Collections cap at roughly 100 items each. TikTok removed [211 million videos in Q1 2025](https://www.tiktok.com/transparency/en/community-guidelines-enforcement-2025-1/), and every deleted video vanishes from your favorites without warning. [Finding a saved TikTok](https://tote.fyi/blog/find-saved-tiktok-iphone) requires scrolling or browsing collections one at a time.

### Facebook

Tap the three-line menu, scroll down to **Saved**. Facebook lets you filter by type (posts, videos, links, Marketplace items, events) and create Collections, but has no keyword search. Users have reported that Facebook briefly offered search within saves around 2019 and later removed it. If the original post is deleted, your save shows “This content isn't available right now.” [Finding saved Facebook posts](https://tote.fyi/blog/facebook-saved-posts-iphone) means filtering by type and scrolling.

### Reddit

Go to your profile and tap the **Saved** tab. Reddit shows a flat chronological list with no search, no categories, and no sorting options. The visible list caps at roughly 1,000 items — older saves fall off the end. Deleted threads vanish from your saves entirely. [Reddit saved posts](https://tote.fyi/blog/reddit-saved-posts-iphone) have one of the least searchable save systems on iPhone.

### YouTube

Tap **You** in the bottom-right corner, then tap **Watch later**. There is no search within Watch Later, Liked Videos, or any playlist. Watch Later caps at 5,000 videos, and deleted videos become \[Deleted video\] placeholders with no title or description. See [how to find saved YouTube videos on iPhone](https://tote.fyi/blog/find-saved-youtube-iphone) for the You tab map, or [YouTube Watch Later](https://tote.fyi/blog/youtube-watch-later-iphone) for ways to manage a long Watch later list.

### X (Twitter)

Tap your profile picture, then **History**, then the **Bookmarks** tab. Older app versions show **Bookmarks** directly in the side menu. Bookmark search matches words only, and folders require X Premium. Bookmarks disappear when posts are deleted or accounts get suspended. See [how to find Twitter (X) bookmarks on iPhone](https://tote.fyi/blog/find-x-bookmarks-iphone) for the full path, or [organize X bookmarks](https://tote.fyi/blog/organize-x-twitter-bookmarks-iphone) to sort them.

### LinkedIn

Tap your profile picture, then **Saved posts**. Some builds label it **Saved posts and articles** or put it under **My items**. There is no search inside the list, no folders for feed saves, and a save is a pointer — a deleted source post can vanish. See [how to find saved posts on LinkedIn](https://tote.fyi/blog/find-saved-linkedin-iphone).

### Safari and Chrome

Safari Reading List searches page titles and URLs only, not article content. Chrome Reading List on iPhone has no search at all. Neither can hold saves from social apps, and they do not sync with each other. [Safari Reading List](https://tote.fyi/blog/safari-reading-list-alternative-iphone) and [Chrome Reading List](https://tote.fyi/blog/chrome-reading-list-alternative-iphone) both miss the body text of saved articles.

## Why you cannot search saved posts across iPhone apps

Spotlight is the closest thing iPhone has to a universal search. It indexes Apple apps, web history, and third-party apps that opt into Apple's Core Spotlight framework. But TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, Facebook, YouTube, and X have not opted in for saved content. Spotlight cannot find a video you favorited on TikTok or a post you bookmarked on Instagram, regardless of which iOS version you run. Apple rebuilt the search engine in iOS 26, but the fundamental gap remains: apps that do not index their saves for Spotlight are invisible to it.

Shared with You in Safari only surfaces links from people in your Contacts, and only from Apple apps. Siri suggestions draw from recent app usage, not from saved content. There is no built-in iPhone feature that searches across social media saves.

## How to find saves across every app from one place

The share sheet is the one feature every iPhone app has in common. When you share a post, video, link, or screenshot to [Tote](https://tote.fyi/) (free to download on the App Store, no account required), it extracts the content details — dish names from recipe videos, product brands from reviews, place names from restaurant posts, event dates from listings — and stores them in one searchable library. The same workflow handles screenshots: share a screenshot from Photos and the visible text becomes searchable too.

### The workflow

1. See something worth keeping on any app. Tap the share button and select Tote from the share sheet.
2. Tote extracts the content context from the link, post, or screenshot automatically.
3. Add it to a list if you want to group it (trip ideas, recipes, gift ideas). Otherwise it goes to your main library.
4. Search later by what you remember — “chicken marinade,” “running shoes,” or “rooftop bar” — regardless of which app the save came from.

You do not need to stop using Instagram bookmarks or TikTok favorites. Keep using them for casual browsing and re-watching. The share-to-Tote step is an addition for saves you actually plan to find again by topic. The extracted content stays in your library even if the original post is later deleted from the source platform.

## FAQ

### Where are my saved posts on iPhone?

Each app stores saves in a different location. Instagram: Profile → Menu → Saved. TikTok: Profile → Favorites tab. Reddit: Profile → Saved tab. Facebook: Menu → Saved. YouTube: You → Watch later. X: Side menu → Bookmarks. Safari: Bookmarks → Reading List. None of these save locations can search each other.

### Can I search all my saved posts at once on iPhone?

Not with any built-in iPhone feature. Spotlight does not index saves from TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, Facebook, or YouTube. The only way to search across all saves at once is to route them through a single app like Tote that indexes content from every source through the share sheet.

### Why did a saved post disappear from my bookmarks?

Platform saves are references to the original post, not copies. If the creator deletes the post, makes their account private, or the platform removes the content, your save disappears with no notification. This happens on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Reddit, YouTube, and X.

### Does Spotlight search TikTok or Instagram saves?

No. TikTok and Instagram do not implement Apple's Core Spotlight framework for saved content. Spotlight cannot find videos you favorited on TikTok or posts you bookmarked on Instagram. Apple has enhanced Spotlight in every recent iOS release, but the gap is on the app side, not Apple's.

### Is there one app that searches saves from every platform?

No app can reach into another app's saved tab and pull content out. But any app that supports the iPhone share sheet can receive saves from any other app at the moment you save. Tote uses this to collect saves from TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, Facebook, YouTube, Safari, Chrome, and screenshots into one searchable library.

### Does sharing a post to Tote download the video or image?

No. Tote extracts the content context — titles, descriptions, metadata, and visible text — and stores that as a searchable save. It does not download or cache the original media files. The extracted details stay in your library even if the original is later deleted.
