Mount Yoshino (Yoshinoyama) is widely considered Japan's premier cherry blossom destination. For over 1,300 years, cherry trees have been planted along its slopes, and today the mountain boasts approximately 30,000 trees, primarily of the Yamazakura variety. The mountain is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site titled 'Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range.' Unlike a single peak, Yoshinoyama is a north-facing slope divided into four distinct areas based on elevation, which allows for a staggered and prolonged blooming season.
