Whitehaven Beach is a pristine 7-kilometer (4.3-mile) stretch of coastline on Whitsunday Island, the largest of the 74 islands in the Whitsundays. It is globally renowned for its 98% pure white silica sand, which doesn't retain heat, making it comfortable to walk on even in the midday sun. The beach is part of the Whitsunday Islands National Park and is located in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef.

As Whitehaven Beach is located on an uninhabited island, it is only accessible by boat, seaplane, or helicopter. Most visitors arrive via day trips from Airlie Beach or Hamilton Island. Options include high-speed catamarans, sailing yachts, and scenic flights that provide a bird's-eye view of the Great Barrier Reef and Heart Reef.
