Quick answer: YouTube does not keep one “Saved” folder on iPhone. Tap You in the bottom-right corner, then check your saved lists.

- Confirm you are on the same Google account you used when you saved the video.

Where YouTube “saves” actually live on iPhone
YouTube groups your lists in the You tab at the bottom-right of the app. Older versions may call it Library. You can find Watch later, Liked videos, and playlists there. YouTube explains the layout in its guide to the You tab.
Common layout under You / Library:

There is no separate folder named “Saved YouTube videos.” Check Watch later, Liked videos, and the playlists you used.
Labels can shift slightly by YouTube app version. If you do not see You, look for Library. If a list name looks different, open the Playlists section and scan for Watch later and Liked videos there.

Watch later vs Liked videos vs Playlists
These three feel interchangeable. They are not. That is why the video “isn’t there.”
Watch later is the queue. You add a video with Save → Watch later (or the Watch later control on the player). It is the closest thing YouTube has to a default save list.
Liked videos is a system playlist of everything you liked. Liking is not the same as saving to Watch later. If you only liked it, it will not appear in Watch later.
Playlists are folders you create (or playlists you save from someone else). A video can sit in a custom playlist and nowhere else. If you filed it into “Recipes” or “Workouts,” open that playlist, not Watch later.

How to open each list on iPhone
Use the YouTube app (not only Safari). Steps below use You; if your app says Library, tap that instead.
Open Watch later
- Open YouTube.
- Tap You in the bottom-right corner (or Library).
- Tap Watch later.
- Scroll the list. Its order can change if you or another device sorted the queue.
If Watch later is missing from the main You screen, open Playlists and look for Watch later in the list of playlists.
Open Liked videos
- Open YouTube.
- Tap You in the bottom-right corner (or Library).
- Tap Liked videos (often under Playlists or as its own row).
- Scroll for the video. There is no reliable keyword search inside Liked videos on iPhone.
Liked videos can be long. If you liked something years ago, expect to scroll or open the same account on another device with a larger screen.
Open a playlist
- Open YouTube.
- Tap You in the bottom-right corner (or Library).
- Tap Playlists.
- Open the playlist you used when you saved the video.
- Scroll that playlist. Videos do not move into Watch later automatically.
Created playlists and playlists you saved from other channels both live here. Names matter. If you do not remember which list you used, open each recent playlist rather than stopping at Watch later.
Confirm the account
- On the You / Library screen, check the account name and avatar at the top.
- If you use more than one Google account, tap the avatar / Switch account and open the other account.
- Re-open Watch later, Liked videos, and Playlists under that account.
Saves do not merge across accounts. Work and personal accounts are separate libraries.
Can you search Watch later, Liked videos, or playlists?
There is no keyword search within these lists.
The main YouTube search bar searches public YouTube, not your private Watch later queue, not Liked videos, and not the inside of most playlists. Typing the video title into Search will find the public page if it still exists. It will not jump you into “where I saved it.”
Practical options on iPhone:
- Scroll the list you used (Watch later, Liked, or the playlist).
- Remember a channel name and scan thumbnails.
- Open the same account on a computer if the list is huge and easier to scan there.
- Search YouTube for the title only to confirm the video still exists publicly. Then check whether your save list still points to it.
YouTube does not give you a full-text “search my saves” box on iPhone. That limitation is normal, not a broken install.
Why a saved YouTube video disappears
Work this checklist in order:
- Wrong account. Switch accounts on the You tab and re-check Watch later, Liked videos, and Playlists.
- Liked, not saved to Watch later. Open Liked videos.
- It is in a playlist, not Watch later. Open Playlists and check each playlist you used.

- Original video deleted or set to private. Your list entry can vanish or fail to play when the uploader removes or restricts the video.
- Signed out or app cache glitch. Sign in again, force-quit YouTube, reopen, and re-check You / Library.
- Different device, same confusion. Confirm the account on both devices. Your lists belong to that account, even if the app calls the tab You on one device and Library on another.
If a new save does not appear, confirm the account and the list you selected. A full Watch later list can also prevent new additions.
Watch History is not a save
History under You / Library shows videos you played. It is not Watch later, not Liked videos, and not a playlist.
If you never tapped Save / Watch later, Like, or Add to playlist, the only record may be History. History can be paused, cleared, or incomplete.

Downloads and offline are not Library saves
Downloading a video for offline viewing is separate from adding it to Watch later or a playlist.
- Offline / Downloads live in YouTube’s download area (often under You / Library → Downloads), not as a substitute for Watch later.
- A download can expire or disappear when you remove offline copies. Check Watch later and your playlists separately.

- Screen recordings or saved frames may land in Photos. Those are not in your YouTube lists.

Keep important YouTube saves findable later
Start with YouTube's own lists.

Tote keeps the link and useful details so you can find it by what it was about. Tote does not download the YouTube video file and does not replace Watch later.
