This is different from losing a favorited TikTok. If you saved the video to favorites and cannot find it, the problem is that favorites have no search. How TikTok Watch History works on iPhone
Watch History is on by default and cannot be turned off. You can clear it, but you cannot prevent TikTok from recording what you watch. To find it: go to your Profile, tap the three-line menu icon in the top right, then Settings and privacy > Activity center > Watch history.
What you see is a reverse-chronological list of every video that played on your screen, grouped by date. Other ways to find a TikTok you watched
TikTok main search
The Discover search bar searches all public TikTok content, not your personal watch history. If you remember specific keywords from the caption or a distinctive detail (“chicken marinade honey garlic”), you might find the video. But you are searching all of TikTok, and the results depend on the algorithm, not on whether you watched the video before. If the creator used a vague caption like “wait for it” or “trust me on this one,” keyword search will not help.

You can request a full account data export through Settings and privacy > Account > Download your data. TikTok delivers the file within up to four days, and the download link expires after four days. The export includes your watch history as a list of video URLs — no titles, no descriptions, no preview thumbnails. Each link takes you to the video page if the video still exists. If the creator deleted it, the link is a dead end.

TikTok's algorithm sometimes resurfaces videos you watched before, especially if you interacted with similar content. But this is not retrieval — it is chance. You cannot request a specific video back from the algorithm, and there is no way to know if or when it will reappear.
How to save TikToks before you scroll past
Every recovery method above assumes the video is already lost. The alternative is capturing the videos that matter before you scroll past them. TikTok favorites work for this, but favorites have no search within them and collections cap at roughly 100 items.
