01

Pick outfits, shoes, and colors

Pick a Saturday outfit, a weekend away, a pair of shoes, a color palette, a bag, and the jacket you would screenshot.

02

Get your aesthetic

See which of eight aesthetics fits you, the colors that define it, and four pieces to build it with.

03

Build your Style Board

Add the pieces you like, plus every outfit post you find later, to one list that knows what is in it.

The eight aesthetics

Every result comes with a six-color palette and four wardrobe pieces that build the look. Read through them all if you are between two.

Minimalist

Clean lines, neutral colors, nothing you have to think about.

You buy fewer pieces and wear them more. Good fabric, a sharp fit, and a palette where everything matches everything.

Colors: Ivory, Stone, Grey, Camel, Charcoal, Black

Pieces that build the look

  • White cotton T-shirt (Tops). Heavyweight, slightly boxy, and tucked into everything. Buy two of the same one.
  • Straight-leg jeans in a dark rinse (Bottoms). No distressing, hem just above the shoe. They go under the coat and over the sneakers.
  • Long camel wool coat (Outerwear). Worn open over all black or all cream. The one piece that makes the rest look expensive.
  • White leather sneakers (Shoes). Low profile, no logos, kept clean. Wear them with the jeans and with tailored trousers.

Old Money

Quiet, classic, and never trying too hard.

Navy, cream, and camel in fabrics that last. You dress like the weekend is at a lake house, even when it is not.

Colors: Navy, Cream, Camel, Hunter green, Burgundy, White

Pieces that build the look

  • Cable-knit sweater (Knitwear). Cream or navy, worn over a collared shirt or tied over the shoulders when it is warm.
  • Pleated trousers (Bottoms). High waist, a soft pleat, and a hem that just touches the loafer.
  • Trench coat (Outerwear). Belted, knee length, in stone. It works over the sweater and over a dress.
  • Penny loafers (Shoes). Brown or oxblood leather. No socks in summer, ribbed socks in winter.

Streetwear

The sneakers come first. The outfit is built around them.

Oversized on top, wide on the bottom, and a rotation of shoes you actually care about. Comfort and a little bit of flex.

Colors: Black, Grey marl, White, Safety orange, Volt, Washed blue

Pieces that build the look

  • Oversized graphic hoodie (Tops). Two sizes up, dropped shoulders. The graphic does the talking, so keep the rest plain.
  • Wide-leg cargo pants (Bottoms). Stacked over the sneakers or cuffed once to show them off.
  • Chunky high-top sneakers (Shoes). The loud pair. Everything else in the outfit should point at them.
  • Boxy workwear jacket (Outerwear). Black or duck canvas, worn open over the hoodie. It gets better with wear.

Dark Academia

Tweed, turtlenecks, and a library card.

You dress for a rainy campus in October. Wool, leather, and deep colors, with a book in the bag just in case.

Colors: Oxblood, Forest, Tobacco, Charcoal, Mustard, Parchment

Pieces that build the look

  • Tweed blazer (Outerwear). Brown or grey, slightly oversized, ideally thrifted. Wear it over a turtleneck or a collared shirt.
  • Turtleneck sweater (Knitwear). Black, oxblood, or forest green. The base layer for every outfit from October to March.
  • Pleated wool trousers (Bottoms). Charcoal or brown check, high waist, with the hem breaking on the shoe.
  • Leather oxfords (Shoes). Brown, polished, with a thin sock. Mary Janes do the same job on a lighter day.

Cottagecore

Soft, floral, and ready for a picnic that may never happen.

Puff sleeves, long skirts, and a basket bag. You dress for a garden and a kitchen table, in colors that look like spring.

Colors: Sage, Butter, Blush, Cornflower, Cream, Moss

Pieces that build the look

  • Floral midi dress (Dresses). Small print, a square neck or puff sleeve, and a hem below the knee. Wear it alone or under the cardigan.
  • Chunky knit cardigan (Knitwear). Cream or sage, big buttons, long enough to pull around you. It goes over everything.
  • Puff-sleeve blouse (Tops). White cotton with a little embroidery, tucked into a long skirt or loose over jeans.
  • Leather clogs (Shoes). Wooden sole, tan or sage leather. They make the dress look less like a costume.

Boho

Earth tones, fringe, and a little bit of the seventies.

Suede, long skirts, and jewelry that stacks. Your look came from a festival and stayed for the rest of the year.

Colors: Terracotta, Mustard, Olive, Rust, Cream, Turquoise

Pieces that build the look

  • Suede fringe jacket (Outerwear). Tan suede, fringe along the sleeves. Over a white tee and jeans it carries the whole outfit.
  • Tiered maxi skirt (Bottoms). Cotton or crinkled gauze in rust or cream, with a fitted top so the shape stays clear.
  • Embroidered peasant blouse (Tops). Loose, white, with colored thread at the neckline. Tuck it halfway.
  • Suede western boots (Shoes). Tan or chocolate, mid calf. Wear them under the maxi skirt and with cutoffs.

Y2K

Low-rise, baby tees, and a bag too small to be useful.

The early 2000s, but on purpose. Bubblegum pink, baby blue, a bit of chrome, and sunglasses with a tint.

Colors: Bubblegum, Baby blue, Chrome, Lilac, Lime, Black

Pieces that build the look

  • Baby tee (Tops). Cropped, fitted, with a slogan or a tiny graphic. The starting point for every outfit.
  • Low-rise flared jeans (Bottoms). Light wash, a long hem over the platforms. Pair with the baby tee and a chain belt.
  • Velour zip-up tracksuit jacket (Outerwear). Pink or baby blue, zipped halfway, worn with the matching pants or over the jeans.
  • Platform sandals (Shoes). Chunky foam sole, two straps. They make the flares sit right.

Coastal

Linen, stripes, and sand in your shoes.

You dress like the beach house is twenty minutes away. White, navy, and sand, in fabrics that look better a little wrinkled.

Colors: White, Sand, Sea glass, Sky, Navy, Driftwood

Pieces that build the look

  • Oversized linen shirt (Tops). White, a size up, sleeves rolled. Wear it open over a swimsuit or tucked into the trousers.
  • Wide-leg linen trousers (Bottoms). Cream or sand, elastic waist, hem above the ankle. The most comfortable thing you own.
  • Navy cotton crewneck (Knitwear). Tied over the shoulders at noon, pulled on when the wind picks up.
  • Espadrilles (Shoes). Canvas upper in navy or natural, rope sole. Fine for the boardwalk and fine for dinner.

Questions about this quiz

What the quiz does, what it does not know, and what to do with your result.

How does this quiz find my aesthetic?+

Each answer adds points to one or two of eight aesthetics: Minimalist, Old Money, Streetwear, Dark Academia, Cottagecore, Boho, Y2K, and Coastal. The aesthetic with the most points wins. You get its color palette, four pieces that build it, and a short note on why your answers landed there.

Is this fashion style quiz free?+

Yes. The aesthetic quiz is free and needs no sign-up, email, or photo. Your answers stay in your browser.

What if I am between two aesthetics?+

Most people are. The quiz picks the one your answers leaned toward most, and your last answer settles a tie. Read the other seven below. If two of them both sound like you, the pieces they share are a good place to start.

What is my aesthetic if none of these fit?+

These eight are the most searched aesthetics, but they are not the only ones. Look at the color palettes and the pieces, not the names. If you would wear the clothes and the colors, the label fits well enough to shop from.

How do I keep track of outfits and pieces I want to buy?+

Keep one Style Board that every outfit goes into, whether it came from a get-ready-with-me TikTok, an Instagram post, or a screenshot of a product page. On iPhone, Tote saves all of those and picks out the products in them, so you can search for the jacket when you are ready to buy instead of scrolling for the video.

Find the exact jacket when you are ready to buy

Tote keeps the outfit TikToks, Instagram posts, and product screenshots that make up your Style Board in one searchable place on iPhone.
